June Super Geek Life Updates
This seems like a good week to punctuate with updates for Super Geek Life. The shop should actually be up within the next couple of months. Then perhaps Super Geeks can get some snazzy t-shirts. Heck if I do it well at least I’ll have my very own brand even if I don’t sell a single one.
I’m on day 122 of headspace. I’ve repeated several old sessions and am currently working through a few packs. I pepper in different topics as needed. I’m going to get that 365 streak. That’s the goal.
Months and months and months into journaling. This reminds me. I recently purchased a new productivity planner/journal. It’s called the SELF Journal from BestSelf.co. While I have not filled it out yet I am definitely impressed with the whole package. It’s laid out brilliantly for accomplishing goals. It lets you roadmap larger goals, set smaller milestones and plan each hour of your day. There are multiple bookmarking tassles.
It reminds me of what a software product roadmap for your life would look like. ‘It’s Microsoft Projecting’ your goals and planning all of your sprints (Agile project management terminology for you non-techs). At any rate as I start to use this thing
I finally finished inking this picture I drew. It’s not anything super complex, but it’s a simple sketch of many of the elements in nature. You see wind, water, fire, earth, and lightning. It looks pretty neato and I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with it. Now I’m debating whether I should paint it because it looks pretty cool without colors.
I’m currently picking out a new long term workout program to do and review. So many good ones out there but I’m leaning towards a Super Hero themed weight lifting routine. More details soon. If you all haven’t caught on pretty much every other month there will be a longer term project finishing up. It’s quite the juggling act. You all can expect one full posting from me per week and a series of carefully curated geek articles constantly fed onto the Super Geek Life facebook page.
So many good things going on. I’ve got lots of great books and routines and productivity hacks and geek themed projects and skills coming up. I’m quite busy. Good busy. I’m loving all the positive feedback. I’m starting to hear from tons of interesting people. We’re growing the Super Geek Army and I’m very pleased with the results. Side note, the weather has been beautiful and I’m loving taking the motorcycle out and about. I live 1 mile from the Colonial Parkway in Williamsburg VA and have been taking extreme advantage of this riding weather.
I was also extremely excited today over something that I’m embarassed to be extremely excited about. The fact that the Super Geek Life page has crossed the thousand likes mark. It seems like a silly metric to be excited about but I am happy because it means a lot of people are seeing the articles and sharing in the geek adventures. It’s also happened using very limited marketing which I am proud of because it means the articles themselves are carrying the page. I’m just going to keep grinding away and doing what I like. So I was happy at this number even though I rolled my eyes at the sound of my own voice saying the superficial sounding words “Yay, the page got a thousand likes!”
I feel even more silly since today is a sad day. Today at the age of 88 Adam West passed away. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a complete and utter Batfanatic. Batman is probably what inspired this site in the first place. The idea that a person can devote themself to self improvement and achieve so much through force of will.
Adam West, was the first live action Batman I remember outside of the comics. I recall waiting to go to school in the morning and episodes of Batman would be peppered in between cartoons. The show was campy to be sure, and doesn’t affect me in the same way that the comics or the more serious later movies and cartoons do but he was the first Batman I remember nonetheless and he will be missed. No matter how dark and gritty the new movies get and how overly serious I end up taking these stories, Adam West’s portrayal always will hold a very special place in my heart.
